Mornings 6AM - 10AM

What you should know about me:

My wife, The Lovely Lizzie and I are parents to 5 children. Four young boys and one princess. My stories tend to navigate life through the scope of faith, family and fun! I love to laugh! I love snacks and food my wife calls junk. Squirrels are delightful. I had hoop dreams and rap dreams, one of those came true and I’m only 5’6″ and a half (yes, I count the half). I often talk to myself.. and I reply.. out loud. I’m the hometown kid living “the dream” by God’s grace.

Weekdays 10AM - 2PM

What you should know about me:

I’ve been part of the Pulse Crew since my parents founded the station when I was sixteen! I started off making coffee, running errands and working the front desk. In the past three decades, I’ve done just about every job required to keep a radio station going. It’s been a wild, FUN ride! My favorite part? Sharing time with you on the air and hearing stories of how God uses the station to encourage you.

Fun Fact:

The first person to teach me how to swing a golf club? TobyMac! At a TopGolf event in Orlando.

Favorite Pulse Artist:

Can you pick just one? Current faves include Hulvey, Forrest Frank and gio.

Favorite Food:

My mother’s lasagna. Nothing can top it!

When I’m not at the station, you can find me:

Rowing on the Des Moines river with my 8-woman crew!

Favorite Bible Verse:

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you? To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8

Afternoons 2PM - 6PM
Weekend Beat Fridays & Saturdays
6PM - 8PM

What you should know about me:

Born in the Chicago area, raised in Lansing, Michigan (a capital city just like Des Moines!). I was grounded A LOT for sooo many things. Lying. Shoplifting. Getting in fights at school. All that alone-time had me glued to the radio, and I knew pretty early in life that I wanted to be a DJ. I often wonder if I would have made better choices had there been a Pulse 101.7 in my town when I was a kid, since music has always been a big influence in my life. God somehow straightened out my path anyhow. Phew!

Fun Fact:

I had a small role in the 2019 movie Canal Street. I was in a few scenes as a radio DJ in St. Louis (before joining the Pulse team). The actual stars in the film include Mekhi Phifer, Lance Reddick, Lyric Ross, Kevin Quinn, and more. I think it was in theaters for a weekend or two, so not exactly a blockbuster!

Favorite Pulse Artist:

Favorite Food:

Breakfast for dinner. And tacos. And philly cheesesteaks. And burgers. Basically, if it’s not good for me I like it too much.

When I’m not at the station, you can find me:

Practicing my DJ sets for the Weekend Beat. Catching a movie at the theater with my family. Pestering my pastor about random theology questions. Driving aimlessly (and stumbling into Stoplight Thoughts). Maintaining my streaks on various NY Times games (Connections, Wordle, Spelling Bee, Strands, the Mini, and Pips). Side hustles. My wife and I are fierce Game Pigeon competitors too.

Favorite Bible Verse:

It’s a tie. Romans 8:38-39. and Proverbs 11:25.

Saturdays 9AM -12PM

What you should know about me:

My name’s A.J. (no, I’m not going to tell you what it stands for) and I am originally from Texas. And if the right opportunity pops up, I would LOVE to move back there (I just need to convince my husband :)). Anyways, as a newly-wed, I currently enjoy spending time with my husband and our husky mix. And when we’re not chilling at home, you’ll catch us doing something church-related. Either volunteering at church or leading a Small Group together.

Fun Fact:

I’ve had 5 addresses across 3 different states in less than 2 years. (It’s a long story, but my family and I are no strangers to moving now.)

Favorite Pulse Artist:

Favorite Food:

Grapes and Reese’s. Just not together, that’s disgusting.

When I’m not at the station, you can find me:

When I’m not at Pulse, I’m pursuing my other passion, content creation. It’s my dream to be a content creator and choreographer, so I spend a bit of time creating videos and dances on social media.

A lot of things to share, so let me try and keep this brief. I’m a twin, not identical, but just as awesome. I used to work at Pulse 101.7 in 2018, and prior to that, so it’s a lot of fun to be back hanging out.

Fun Fact:

I can’t whistle, I can’t blow a bubble, and I really can’t snap. Whether that’s a fun fact or a sad fact, I’ll let you decide.

What you should know about me:

I am always down to meet up for coffee and talk about God’s goodness. As a wife, girl-mom, and dog-mom I feel abundantly blessed. I grew up in Urbandale, IA and am the oldest of seven children. I graduated from Northwestern College with my degree in Theatre and Arts Administration. After college I moved to Kansas City and married my high school crush. We lived in Kansas City for three years before we moved back to our hometown of Des Moines in March of 2022. I love all creation, but I choose to love spiders from a VERY far distance.
