When I first started working for Pulse, I had a hard time understanding the Pulse mission. I was confused about why we exclusively play Christian artists, but no worship music. But as I’ve learned more about the station and spent more time with our listeners, I have been BLOWN AWAY at what God is doing here. Pulse has a very unique mission.
While many of our listeners already know Jesus, a majority of our listeners are brand new to the idea of God. Pulse is unique because you can connect with God and learn more about Him through the music even if you haven’t set foot in a church before.
Pulse uses music to reach out to your friends, neighbors, and family members who don’t know how to get started on their spiritual journey. There is NO OTHER station that does this. There are worship stations for the church goers, and then secular music for the rest of the world, but what about those in-betweeners? The people who need some sort of spiritual connection, but don’t have one yet? Maybe they aren’t ready to find a fellowship, but they are interested enough to start thinking about their relationship with God. Those people deserve good music. They deserve music that feeds their spirit and doesn’t bore them either… and to find Truth through the lyrics they hear.
Think about what our teens are coming up against as well. Look in the worldly media today. Positive music and role-models are few and far between right now. Pulse has passionate artists on the air that write music and lyrics that help teens connect with their Creator on a deeper level. It also trains students in outreach. When they suggest Pulse as a good radio station to their friends, its a non-invasive way to introduce them to something spiritual and positive that can help start them on a Christ-centered future.
I’m amazingly blessed to be a part of this team and a part of this mission. As you are reading this I want to encourage you to pray and ask God what your part in this mission is. Pulse is still OVER half listener-supported and in this struggling economy, it is hard for people to give the amounts they would like to. So here is your call to arms: Whatever you can do on any level is appreciated. If you can give $5 or $5000, it doesn’t matter, we just appreciate you partnering with your station’s mission. I want to thank all of our current donors and let you know how much your support means to us. C’mon guys! Lets get this ball rolling! You can call us or give online and don’t forget to encourage your other Pulse listener friends to join in and help.
