Last Friday morning, Echo and I were up at the crack of dawn to go visit the students at Westchester Church’s Pancake Breakfast. Right away you could tell it was going to be a big event, given the droves of teens pouring into the parking lot as we arrived in the Pulse 101.7FM CityStop car. Westchester Church is located right across the street from Hoover High School and has been hosting a weekly pancake breakfast in their gym for almost two school years.

In fact, the breakfasts have become so popular they had requests to serve on Mondays as well! So now they currently serve pancakes to hundreds of students every Monday and Friday during the school year. Thats a lot of pancakes! Echo and I had a great time playing music for the students at the entrance to the gym and Dave from Pulse Mornings gave some shout outs over the air. A lot of students were new to hearing Pulse 101.7 so we handed out our Comparative Listening Guides to help them navigate though our artists.

It was not only inspirational to see so many students coming together to socialize and sit down to a good breakfast, but the staff that help with the breakfasts are so motivated to help.
I’m sure Westchester would love to see new faces at their pancake breakfasts (Last Friday there were over 200 students!) so if you want to get involved, contact the Westchester Church at 515-278-1615.
