Why I Support Pulse 101.7FM
I started listening to Pulse when the station first went on the air in 1994. I had just graduated from college and moved back to central Iowa. My boyfriend (who is now my husband) had stumbled upon the station and encouraged me to check it out. There were no other Christian music stations on the air in Des Moines at that time and I was so excited that there was a station playing this music!
In 1995, my husband and I started giving monthly to the station because we loved to listen and we were encouraged by the on air personalities and the music.
As the years have passed, we have continued to support the station, but we have also seen our reasons for giving adapt to the stages of our lives. When we had babies and toddlers, there were times when we were exhausted, sleep-deprived people who needed reminding that God was our strength and Pulse music did that for us. When our children were young, we loved that they could learn about God’s love through the music and sing with reckless abandon from the back seat of the car. Now, as parents of teens, we are thankful that Pulse music is available to our children as an alternative to the negative messages that are rampant in music and culture today.
I know that as time passes, we will continue to support the station and that the reasons we give may change with the seasons of our lives. Ultimately, we believe that God moves in people’s hearts through music. We’ve experienced it in our own lives and we’ve seen Him use music to minister in the lives of others. We feel privileged to come alongside Pulse 101.7 to share God’s message of hope, truth and love through music!
