Pulse 101.7FM artist, Plumb (Tiffany Lee), recently released her autobiography, Need You Now – A Story of Hope. I knew her life story was going to be a compelling one as she has publicly spoken about the dissolving and renewal of her marriage. For those of you who attended Winter Jam last year, you may recall her being open about her marital struggles as she spoke during her performance.
This book chronicles Plumb’s musical beginnings starting with her childhood in Indianapolis, Indiana where she sang at church with her parents, to her start in the music business as a back-up singer, and finally with the trials and successes of being a solo artist.
The behind-the-scenes look at the music industry is interesting, but the heart of Plumb’s story is her recounting of her struggling marriage and hectic family life. Plumb writes about her relationships with transparency and honesty. As her marriage crumbles, her sadness and desperation to reconcile with her husband is heart-breaking.
As she finds herself in the darkest time of her life, she writes about the importance of listening to Christian music, and specifically about Christian radio. “I had Christian radio on 24/7 in every room in the house. I played it in the car. I played it while I was in the shower. I left it on at night. Still do. I wanted those truths seeping into my bones, filling the air of my home, and chasing away the fear and doubt that hovered in the wings of my mind.”
Ultimately, Plumb’s life story is one of hope. Through her words we witness God’s power to heal relationships and hearts. We feel God draw near when we are hurting. We remember that with God there is always hope.
