Over the next week, there will be three movies with powerful messages playing in the Des Moines metro area. Although some of these films are rated PG-13 and may not be recommended for families with young children, they each address issues that are a reality for many people in our community and are worth supporting!
Home Run – The Movie is opening at the Century Theater at Jordan Creek on Friday, April 19th. This film tells the story of a man who has lost almost everything as the result of addiction and finds hope and healing through a Celebrate Recovery group and the redemptive love of God. Stuck will be screened at the Fleur Cinemas in Des Moines for one night only on Monday, April 22nd at 7pm. Stuck is an award-winning and moving documentary about the current state of international adoption. This film follows the stories of four children in search of their adoptive families and the barriers they must overcome to be united with one another. Camp is playing in limited release at the Wynnsong Theaters in Johnston, with its opening on Friday, April 26th. Camp is the story of a young boy named Eli who is given the opportunity to go to a camp for abused and neglected children who have been placed in foster care. The movie focuses on the relationship between Eli and his counselor, who has issues of his own. 40% of the film’s proceeds will be donated to our local Royal Family KIDS Camp in Des Moines.
