Overdose Awareness Walk
May 20 @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PMFree
We will gather at the DMACC Ankeny Campus, and walk around the pond on the south side. I’m a mom. My first born son lost his battle on November 1st, 2020. My worst nightmare became reality. It is time for the stigma to stop. It is time we talk about this epidemic. We walk for the grieving families. We walk for the survivors. We walk to bring support and hope for those that are fighting for recovery. We walk to support those currently in recovery. We walk to bring awareness. Never say “not my child”. It can happen to anyone. My son should be here to walk by my side and to celebrate his 30th birthday on May 20th. We walked this journey together and he may not be here, but I am. So I will walk. Addiction does not define my son. He is a brother. He is a dad. He is a son. He is a grandson. He is a friend. Everyone is somebody’s someone. Every overdose is a son or daughter. Hope you can join us.
