I don’t think I’ve ever had a legitimate tire “blow out.” Those who have been on the road during one will tell you how scary it is. I have, however, experienced that annoying gradual deflating of a tire. Maybe you have had it happen to you. You start driving a few blocks and you hear a strange sound. “What IS that sound?” you ask yourself. “Is that grinding?!” Finally, you pull over and take a look. That’s when you realize your tire is shredded and you have been driving on your rim. Hopefully you didn’t damage them in the process. This happened to me about two years ago when I was on my way home from a friend’s house. I heard that ugly grinding noise, and decided to pull over at the Casey’s on the north side of Ankeny. Upon examining my car, I discovered the culprit…a completely deflated tire. It wouldn’t hold any air and not even a can of fix-a-flat would help me. I was stranded and with a student’s budget, I wasn’t at all looking forward to buying a new tire… or calling a tow truck, for that matter!
EPIC FAIL. This is why my Dad tells me to get my tires checked!
Luckily, I couldn’t have broken down in a better location. I looked up and saw that I was right next to a Heartland Tire and Auto. I went into their store and did what any normal damsel in distress would do…I fell on the floor and cried for help! Just kidding. I was pretty upset though. Thats why I was so happy to find such helpful workers. They carefully drove my car from the Casey’s to their parking lot (so I could avoid a tow bill) and changed my tire in minutes! They were even able to save the rim! I don’t remember every detail of my experience because it was so long ago…but what I DO remember is that I was amazed at how fast they took care of me and how relieved I was at the price. Have you ever tried to get a tire taken care of at Wal Mart? I have. NOT the same experience I had at Heartland Tire and Auto.
So when I met Kelly Underhill from Heartland Tire and Auto in Waukee, I was not surprised how accommodating and friendly he was. Kelly is a Pulse listener, and he also took care of Dave’s (from Pulse Mornings) car about a month ago. Let me tell you that from my experience (and Dave’s), the Waukee location was just as amazing as the Ankeny location. I love the service at Heartland Tire and Auto, and now I’m happy to recommend them to you as a featured advertiser! Stop by Heartland Tire and Auto today to get your tires checked and to thank Kelly for partnering with your station. Tell him you heard about him on Pulse 101.7FM and ask for a Pulse sticker while you are at it! Besides the Waukee Heartland Tire and Auto on Hickman, they have 5 other convenient locations in Ankeny, Boone, Creston, Muscatine, and Knoxville. Local AND successful enough to have 6 locations? You know they have got to be good!
And remember, when you support Pulse advertisers, you support your station!
